lest we forget

for the men who gave their lives
for the women who gave their time, love and energy
for the wives who lost their husbands
for the children who lost fathers
for the parents who lost their children
for the innocent caught in the middle
for the animals killed or left wounded
for the millions of jews
for the hundreds people of other minorities or differences
for my grandpa who was shot down and experienced more traumatic events than i ever hope to face

for everyone who contributed to world peace during the years of 1939-1945

we remember.

allow today to be a reminder of hope

peace for iraq
peace for afghanistan
peace for the congo
peace for uganda
peace for somalia
peace for turkey
peace for colombia
peace for el savador
peace for georgia

better than a thousand hollow words is one word that brings peace.
- siddharta gautama, the founder of buddhism.
